10 Years, 100K in Burnt Ad Money = Discovering One Awesome Referral Trick
I SUCK at paid ads with Mantry (Shout Out 0.3x ROAS) so I test a lot of organic ways to find new customers. One thing I never cracked for years was referral programs. I signed up for a couple apps that did the whole “refer a fried and get 15% off” thing but it never really did anything. That’s when I stumbled on this double edge solution, hopefully it works for you.
ALL I DO is reach out to any customer who has been subscribed for 1 year and write this exact email:

Hi ___,
I’m a founder, thank you for being a subscriber for a year, if their is anyone you know who would love Mantry, I would be happy to send them a Mantry (on us of course).
— -
That’s it.
The Result:
1) A massive flow of new subscribers (we add an insert into the free box with a 10% off coupon too).
2) It makes existing loyal subscribers feel acknowledged and improves our churn rate (acts as a loyalty program).
3) The only cost is the cost of one box but the perceived value is $85.
4) The email opens a dialogue with existing customers where they can mention feedback or any issues ect.
**Note** — A very important line is “if there is anyone you know who would LOVE Mantry” It really makes them think of who would ENJOY the service so it’s a scorching hot lead.
IT IS INSANE HOW SIMPLE THIS IS — I don’t know anyone else that does this as a “referral program” and it is so easy and effective. It took us about 6 years to figure it out so try it!
Worst case scenario, your existing customer is happy, best case you get a new customer. No SAS costs, widgets, code or anything. Just one personal email at a time.
