On Schnitzel & Caring

I went to Berlin and expected I’d knock back a schnitzel with the half hearted enthusiasm of getting a corn dog at the state fair, the “I’m here, so I might as well meal”. But when the Lay’s potato chip crisp breading gave way to a juicy, meaty explosion of perfectly cooked veal I knew I had completely underestimated the German ability to engineer quality through simplicity. I think there’s like 4 ingredients: bread crumbs, egg, flour and meat but it’s clear somebody really cared in the kitchen, which is always the deal breaker in food.
