“…everyone who works there just really really cares.”
Believe me, Providence is a sleeper hit.
Last winter, Mom came to visit and to escape Manhattan, we hopped an Amtrak three hours north to Rhode Island. I knew next to zilch about the place other than it was full of smart people (Brown University and R.I. School of Design) and the unofficial state drink was Del’s Frozen Lemonade.
First order of business, grab a coffee. We meandered up the hill to Dave’s Coffee Roaster. It’s the type of place where everyone who works there just really really cares. The coffee is roasted in house, the mugs are oversized and the barista gave us a laundry list of awesome places to check out, “Go here for oysters, Nick’s on Broadway for breakfast, Oh! The chef at North used to work for David Chang at Momofuku!”.
By the end of the weekend Providence stole the show, so go there, but in the meantime we brought Dave’s to you.
